Cuba

“Dreaming in Cuban-part dos”

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I love all things Cuban. Tonight for instance, I dined on Cuban food. I had a Cuban sandwich (roast pork, ham, & swiss cheese along with a variety of condiments slathered on it), a papa rellena (fried potato ball filled with beef), and tostones (crispy, twice fried plantains).

One of my birthday presents this year was a stunning “coffee table” book-Cuba: The Sights, Sounds, Flavors and Faces by Francois Missen with photography by Pierre Hausherr. I saw it at the bookstore one day and immediately put it on my mental birthday list. Since I can’t go to Cuba myself I thought I would share some of the beautiful pictures:

The beach, captivating countryside, mojitos, and colonial architecture-
what more could one want in a destination?

I wish we could leave tomorrow! And nothing beats plantains, for me one of the best parts about the tropics!
