1.) The Himalayas from the Sanskrit hima meaning “snow” and alaya meaning “abobe”are found in the north of India. Together, the Himalayan mountain system is the world’s highest, and home to the world’s highest peaks, the Eight-thousanders, which include Mount Everest and K2.
2.) A UNESCO world heritage site found in central India, Khajuraho is a famous tourist and archaelogical site known for its sculpted temples dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Jain patriarchs.
3.) Goa was a Portuguese colony founded in the 16th century that continued to exist for 450 years until it was taken over by India in 1961. Today it is India’s smallest state by area and is renowned for its beaches and world heritage architecture.
