In honor of the upcoming Olympic Games that are being held in London, I decided to recommence with a new Friday fun facts post and hopefully will start doing this on a weekly basis again too
-London is made up of two ancient cities which are now joined together: the city of London, known as “the City” which is the business and financial sector of the United Kingdom (it was also the site of the Great Fire in 1666) and the city of Westminster, where Parliament and most government offices are located as well as Buckingham Palace. Together they comprise what is known as Greater London.
-Each week the 409 escalators in the London Underground cover an astounding distance-the equivalent of several trips around the world.
-Her Majesty the Queen is not allowed to go into the House of Commons because she is not a commoner.
