Julia’s Charlotte Malakoff-SUCCESS!

A couple of weeks ago I attempted to make Julia’s charlotte malakoff au chocolat (chocolate-almond cream  molded in ladyfingers). I reported shortly after on how much of a disaster it was. Only temporarily defeated but still ever determined, I tried again this weekend and had success! I did a couple of things differently the second time around (not straying AT ALL from the recipe, if you want success you don’t attempt to “healthify” Julia’s recipes), and I think that made all the difference.

They could not have been less “lady” or “finger” like in look, but I did make my own ladyfingers per Julia’s suggestion. However, with their unladylike appearance I think I would have greatly benefited from a pastry bag…

In closing, if there was ever a dessert that should be labeled sinfully delicious, charlotte malakoff would be it. The first bite of the rich chocolatey cream and you’re in heaven.

    No, I didn’t think it was rich at all. I have a pretty “weak” stomach when it comes to rich and heavy foods but I was fine with this! Good luck and let me know if you decide to make it.
