Munich Snapshots

Munich was such a pleasant surprise for me. Although I had no doubt that I would enjoy myself, what with its beautiful buildings and fascinating history (both good and bad), I just didn’t realize how much I actually would. For years, I had eschewed Germany in lieu of other European countries, it was a B-list country for me. But I was missing out. I fell in love with the beautiful Bavarian-style architecture; I became immensely intrigued by the German language (so different from my Romance language studies; I took in so much history in the fleeting time I was there, especially where the pre-origins of World War II were concerned.

I have no doubt that I will return to Germany one day, I only regret that it took me so long to get there. If you’re like me and have always been lukewarm on visiting the country, then take my advice and start with Munich. It served as the perfect introduction to the country and has something to offer for just about everyone-children, foodies, beer connoisseurs, history lovers, art aficionados. Hopefully these 20 photos will inspire you to visit sooner rather than later.

That photo with the painted ceilings is just gorgeous! I’ve been to four cities in Germany and loved all of them, but I’ve not made it to Munich yet. One day! It is great when those “B-list cities” turn out to be A-listers! 🙂

Thanks Sarah! That was probably one of the most amazing things I saw on the trip. While the whole of the Antiquarium was neat (when is a royal palace ever not?), the “antiques Room” just blew everything else away 🙂

Munich was the perfect introduction and I so look forward to exploring more of the country in the future!
