New Orleans-a photographic ode

I realized that in all the many posts I’ve done of past travels, I never did one on a trip I took to New Orleans during spring break of my senior year of college. I visited in 2007, roughly a year and half after Hurricane Katrina had devastated the city. Although the French Quarter, the city’s premiere tourist area, sustained minimal damage when compared with other sections, there were still the boarded up store fronts and restaurants that hadn’t yet reopened and perhaps never did. It was sad looking in them knowing the unimaginable horrors that had befallen the city in the late summer of 2005. One day I would love to go back to New Orleans since D has never been and also because I would want to take advantage of the city’s incredible culinary scene, more so than I did on my first visit. I recently did write a travel narrative on a day trip I took to a Creole country plantation, Oak Alley, but thought in the spirit of the city, a photographic post was more fitting.

Well there are plenty of places I’ve never been to in the United States including the northwest so you’re not alone! It’s a neat city I’d love to experience again one day πŸ™‚ I know you would love it though as a foodie!
