The above picture is of two delectable pastries my husband and I had
on our honeymoon to Paris last September. After dinner one night at a
small cafe in the Rue Cler neighborhood, we passed by a
patisserie that “had me at” its scrumptious looking window displays. Although
it was hard to choose, I ended up going with a tarte au citron and my
husband something chocolate related. (I can’t remember its name
but I do know it was delicious).
Pastries are to Paris what gelato is to Italy. Feasting on one is an experience
every bit as important as gazing at the City of Light from atop the
Eiffel Tower or walking along the banks of the Seine at dusk.
And in the meantime, a pastry of my own creating, although not nearly
as fancy as those dans Paris.
My own version of Madeline cakes. They’re so
“French” they require their own pan to bake them in.
