Waikiki Beach- a photo essay

Waikiki Beach photo essay

Waikiki Beach can be an assault on the senses. It’s noisy and crowded, the streets are mobbed with an eclectic array of people-tourists, mainland transplants, even the passed out inebriated individual or two. And yet right there in the smack of it all is the magnificent Pacific Ocean, its clear blue waters sparkling away like diamonds day and night. In Waikiki Beach, new mixes with old-modern skyscrapers nestled amongst Waikiki’s grand dame hotels, the Royal Hawaiian and the Moana Surfrider. It’s not an easy area to love when compared to some of Hawaii’s more secluded and bucolic spots, and yet in the whole of the Hawaiian islands there’s nothing else like Waikiki Beach.
