20 reasons to visit Quebec City at Christmas
Back in 2013, I wrote a post on five places I’d like to visit in December. One of the destinations I featured was Quebec City, a spot many consider to be a “Christmas wonderland.” Well, just last week I had the chance to visit and it was every bit as magical and festive as I hoped it would be.
I’m sure Quebec City is a beautiful spot to visit year-round, especially in the Old Town (Vieux Quebec), however, I can’t imagine anywhere more bedecked in Christmas decor. Quebec City in December wasn’t as cold as I feared it would be (although that’s not to say it was warm, hardly). However, there was actually snow and ice on the ground (bring boots!) so that truly added to the ambiance.
If you’re looking for a first-rate Christmas destination but don’t want to spend the time or money to travel to Europe, look no further than Quebec City. It’s relatively easy to get to (especially when coming from the East Coast) and the Canadian dollar is quite the bargain for American visitors.
While I would love to visit again in the warmer weather (I think springtime would be lovely), visiting at Christmastime is an experience I’ll never forget.
